i purchased a netgear wireless router and that didn't work.. i was wondering if linksys wireless would be better and almost the same setup as the linksys wired router.|||A lot of the wireless routers have the same setup. You would have to browse to the router using Internet Explorer (or whatever browser you use) and then you can configure it.
One reason that wireless routers sometimes, cause trouble is that you have to boot all your equipment up in a certain order for everything to work correctly.
Turn off or unplug your wireless router, your modem (i.e. cable, DSL, etc.) and you PC.
Here's the important part, the boot order.
- Turn on your modem first. allow it a few minutes to stabilize
- then turn on your wireless router. This should be plugged into the modem. allow it to stabilize.
- now, with the PC plugged into the wireless router (for configuration purposes) turn on your PC.
- configure the wireless part of your router
After you have configured the wireless portion of your router, then you can unplug the cable between your PC and the router and go wireless
