Linksys router setup - DNS Error?

Iam trying to set up a linksys wireless router.I did the step by step process on the linksys help page and well it didnt help and Iam now halfway to crazy!!!! I never dreamed it would be this complicated!!!

I have AT%26amp;T DSL by the way!

Ok so i have it hookup up,I went to the linksys setup page -192.168.1.1

I went into my command prompt under ADMIN. and released the old IP address %26amp; renewed a new IP address.

I then clicked the local connection under "networks" and made sure the IPv4 is in a segment like such-169.xxx.xxx.xxx, it was.So I then went to the router setup page again.Clicked status and the ip address was all zeros,So i clicked DHCP RELEASE then DHCP RENEW ,thats didnt work of course!! So i went and changed it to PPPoE "like the linksys help page said" I entered my username and password I saved then went back to status clicked connect and it then said -Connecting (But NEVER connected) I dont know what Iam doing wrong.

Any ideas???

At%26amp;T wants more money to help and so does linkysys and I would rather figure it out if possible on my own.

Also When I tried to bring up a page with it connected it says -DNS ERROR -DOMAIN SERVER CONFIGURATION ERROR.|||It means the router can't register with that mac address with the router since ISP already has that mac address in use.

dunno why, try unpluging modem and router, then plug them both in at the same time. worked for me for some funny reason.|||http://computerbasiscs.webs.com/winxptip鈥?/a> scroll down to wireless routers , hope it helps|||Set up a Linksys Wireless Router

Choose and purchase a Linksys router, taking into account your budget and computing habits.

Attach the antennas to the Linksys wireless router.

Place the router in a central location, making sure it's not surrounded by metal. (A signal can't be obtained through metal.) The router should be located so that the distance between clients (computers) is somewhat equal. This will create a better connection.

Plug the Ethernet cable into the "Internet" port on the back of the Linksys router.

Connect a computer to the router by plugging another Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer and attaching the other end to one of the available ports on the back of the router. You can choose any port except the one labeled "WAN."

Plug the router into an electrical outlet.

Wait for the power light to stop flashing, at which time the router is finished booting up. While the router is booting, the power light will be blinking. This process may take a few minutes to complete.

Reboot your computer so it can access a new IP address from the router through the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

Configure the Router

Open your web browser, type "http://192.168.1.1/" into the address bar and hit "Enter."

Use "Admin" as the username in the pop-up box and leave the password blank.

Connect to the Internet and click on "Internet Setup."

Select your connection type from the drop-down menu. Choose "DHCP" for cable modems or "PPPoE" for most DSL modems. If you are unsure of these options, check with your ISP.

Set a service set identifier (SSID) to identify the router and change the password.

Encrypt your wireless connection using a Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) key. Under the "Wireless Security" option, enter a passphrase and click "Generate." This will generate a password which will need to be used by any client connecting to your router.
