How can I setup a password for my linksys router?

I know the address is 192.168.1.1 but I have verizon dsl. and verizon dsl has the same address as the linksys router. and even time i type in 192.168.1.1 the dsl modem thing comes up. i tried it on different computers.|||Connect Modem [wired] to Router [wired] to PC.

Open PC Command Line:


-


Click [Start] - Click [Run...] - enter: cmd, Click [OK]

At the prompt (c:\.....%26gt;) enter: ipconfig /release, press [ENTER]

At the prompt (c:\.....%26gt;) enter: ipconfig /renew, press [ENTER]

At the prompt (c:\.....%26gt;) enter: ipconfig /all, press [ENTER]

Default Gateway == IP address of the Linksys Router

TEST: Open Web Browser: Connect to IP address of Default Gateway.

IF the DSL modem comes up, disconnect DSL modem from Linksys router %26amp;%26amp; perform steps AFTER PC Command Line again.|||Disconnect your modem and strictly communicate with your router. Once you are in, you can change the IP for the router to something other than 192.168.1.1





I also wonder if you always end up communicating with the modem and not the router or if it changes. I know that linksys sometimes uses 192.168.2.1 as its IP as well.





Once you are in, it should be easy to do the rest.|||You can connect the router to the computer directly and type the address into the address bar of your browser.Or follow the links below for a more advanced and harder fix.
