How can I setup my linksys G wrt54gs router without the setup cd?

It is a used router from a friend, and all I have is the cord to plug it into an outlet and a yellow patch cord. I tried plugging the patch cord into my computer, while it was attached to the router, but I only have one outlet in my computer that the cord fits into and it was already being used by my internet cable. I read online that if I type into the address bar "http://192.168.1.1/" I can setup my router, but my router has to be plugged into the computer and I have to be online. Is there any other way to set the router up, without buying a new one?|||The routers purpose is to split that internet connection. Unplug the internet patch cable from the computer and plug it into the router's "internet" port. Then use the yellow patch cable and run it from the computer to ANY of the other 4 ports on the linksys.

When the cables are correct you can then type "192.168.1.1" into your internet browser, and chances are that you will need to enter user-name and password, which will be user: admin pass: admin if the settings are default. (if it rejects the login credentials then you may need to reset the router)

Once logged in you can access the wireless setup for network name and password among other things.

if reset is needed then find the tiny reset button on the back and use a paperclip or pen to press and hold for 30 seconds while the power is unplugged.|||you have to manually do it if you don't know how watch these or call a computer tech
